Beer Lovers Have Chosen "Valmiermuižas ziemas alus" Recipe

In the next winter season "Valmiermuižas ziemas alus" (Valmiermuiža's Winter Beer) will be put on market chosen from three different beer recipes by the beer lovers themselves according to voting results. „Valmiermuižas ziemas alus” will be available on store shelves from Michaelmas till Easter.

Thinking of a suitable product for the winter season, namely, for the period of time from October till March, in the autumn last year "Valmiermuižas alus" brewery brewed three different tastes of winter beer that could be purchased at "Valmiermuižas alus" brewery shops in Riga and at Valmiermuiža. The beer lovers could purchase only 3000 winter beer sets including all three tastes.

From November 29 of the last year until January 31 this year beer lovers could vote, evaluate the winter beer and offer their opinions on the brewery's web page, „Valmiermuižas alus” brewery shops and at special beer tasting events. In total 472 beer lovers participated in evaluation. They found „Valmiermuižas ziemas stipralus Nr.3” (Valmiermuiža's winter strong beer No. 3) the most tasty. The second was „Valmiermuižas ziemas stipralus Nr. 1” (Valmiermuiža's winter strong beer No. 1), and the third – „Valmiermuižas ziemas stipralus Nr. 2” (Valmiermuiža's winter strong beer No. 2).

The landlord of "Valmiermuižas alus" brewery Aigars Ruņģis is satisfied with the beer lovers' choice and points out: "The third recipe of „Valmiermuižas ziemas alus” has the most distinct and rich taste bouquet. This fuels confidence that we are moving in the right direction by offering a winter beer with a pronouncedly thick and rich taste for unhurried enjoyment in the long winter evenings.”

The tasters of „Valmiermuižas ziemas alus” gave praise („Please, brew Nr. 3 the next year!”, „A tasty beer for unhurried enjoyment!”, „Nr. 3.is the most distinct of the three varieties and considerably different – sweeter, stronger, “thicker”, with more pronounced taste”), and suggestions for improvement of taste („Good balance, but must settle longer for people to buy it”).

Aigars Ruņģis admits – "Valmiermuižas alus" beer lovers are the best advisors and critics in the development process of new products. „Being a small brewery we cannot afford to invest much money into extensive marketing research, quantitative surveys, focus groups, and advertising agencies. We will certainly take a note of the beer lovers advice in the brewing process of „Valmiermuižas ziemas alus”, which will have a deep and balanced taste,” promises the landlord of "Valmiermuižas alus" Aigars Ruņģis.
