Over the first nine months of the year, the craft brewery, "Valmiermuižas alus", has sold 74% more beer than during the same period last year. Thus the turnover for the first three quarters has reached 756,608 lats. Lately the brewery has started to explore export markets and has sent the first test parties. The first regular deliveries are planned for the coming month.
The biggest success in the restaurant segmentAltogether in nine months of the year "Valmiermuižas alus" has sold 665,570 litres of beer against 377,748 litres of beer in the same period last year. This year, the hotel, restaurant and bar segment has seen the largest growth where the customers have increased the sales of beer served on-tap by 90%. Accordingly the draught beer accounts for 32% of the whole volume of beer sold by "Valmiermuižas alus".
"Since the beer storage cellar enlargement in April this year, Valmiermuiža craft brewery has been operating with full capacity. However, in the summer months the demand for Valmiermuiža beer again exceeded the brewery's capacity. Irrespective of that our strategy remains the same – to be the craft brewery and not to exceed 1% share of Latvian beer market. Our mission in Latvia is to revive beer enjoyment traditions and to regain beer's position as the main drink during festivities," says Aigars Ruņģis, the landlord of "Valmiermuižas alus".
EXPORT MARKETS WILL RECEIVE 5% FROM THE BREWED VOLUME
Although the Baltic Sea countries have been chosen as the priority export markets, some test parties have already been sent to Estonia, Denmark and Southern Italy. We would like to enter the export markets as part of the Latvian cuisine along with the rye bread and black balsam. That is why our strategy now is to find out the taste of beer lovers in other countries and offer our beer with the original taste and design for delicacy shop customers," explains A. Runģis.
It is planned that the first regular deliveries to traders in export markets will be made in the next coming month. And export markets will receive 5% of the total volume of beer brewed by the craft brewery.
