Beer in place of honor on Latvian festive tables - this has been the dream of the owner of Valmiermuiža since the establishment of the brewery. In order for this to come true, we are constantly working on new, rich flavors - and nurturing the culture of beer enjoyment. With the first taste of the imperial Baltic porter, we are embarking on a new, challenging journey to create an even fuller, more expressive expression of the beer style that praises the name of the Baltic around the world.
At one time, at the end of the 19th century, Baltic porter became the region's aldars' answer to the British imperial stout. An almost black brew with creamy foam pours into the glass. Sweet coffee toffee and lightly burnt crème brûlée with hints of ginger and mint. Caramel sweetness, roasted walnut, coffee bitterness and licorice in the full mouthful, after a while the bouquet is balanced by a nuance of dried fruit. In the aftertaste, the dark, heady sweetness is colored by a light grassy bitterness.

Unhurriedly brewed for special occasions, in Latvia beer has been the Master Brewer’s pride and joy since days of yore. As a measure of our respect for venerable traditions, at Valmiermuiža we brew unpasteurised beer patiently and nurture a culture of enjoying beer, so that beer enjoys a place of honour on the festive table just as it did in olden days.
