Baltic Porter is the most famous beer style to have originated from the Baltic region. Its trademark ingredients are roasted malts and lager yeast, which mean longer fermentation at a lower temperature and more pronounced malt character. Valmiermuiža’s Master Brewer firmly believes that Baltic Porter should also be the standard bearer for Latvian beer brewing nowadays. This porter is brewed using the classic brewing ingredients of water, malt barley, hops and lager yeast. We can now proudly add Baltic Porter to Dark Smoked Lager and Floor Malted Pilsner in Valmiermuiža’s selection of age-old malt beers.

Valmiermuiža Baltic Porter is brewed using five different malts. After drying, two of these malts are roasted like coffee giving it its black colour. The beer’s bitterness is given its edge by German Nugget and Polaris hops, while the addition of noble Tettnang Tettnanger hops give it a truly distinctive aroma. When poured into a glass, a thick dark brown and creamy head forms that slowly evaporates.
