The Pagan King tells the story of the ancient Zemgalian chieftain Namejs. To celebrate the opening screening of the film, Valmiermuiža brewed a dark honey beer. Our folk songs have long told us that Latvians love sweet beer. And the sweetest beer can be brewed by adding honey from Latvia’s forests and meadows.
Continuing our support of our national film industry, Valmiermuiža’s landlord now offers beer lovers another honey beer named Namejs. This time, it is amber coloured.
Three malts and two hops are complemented by a generous infusion of Latvian blossom honey. Amber Namejs is the sweetest brew that Valmiermuiža Brewery has ever offered Latvia’s beer lovers. The aroma of this amber coloured beer initially releases notes of honey, accompanied by hints of bread and flowers. The sweetness of honey also comes to the fore in the bouquet of flavour, intermingled with a mild bitterness releasing tones of meadow grasses, peppermint and herbs.

Valmiermuiža brewery

Unhurriedly brewed for special occasions, in Latvia beer has been the Master Brewer’s pride and joy since days of yore. As a measure of our respect for venerable traditions, at Valmiermuiža we brew unpasteurised beer patiently and nurture a culture of enjoying beer, so that beer enjoys a place of honour on the festive table just as it did in olden days.
