Valmiermuiža owner Aigars Rungis and "Spirits & Wine" board chairman Andris Lūkinas were inspired to create the new beer "Steinhauer's" by a lesser-known, but certainly deserving of honor and memory, Latvian businessman - an 18th-century Andrejosta mast tree sorter, later, among other things, a brewer of several manors and the owner of a paper manufactory, as well as a fighter for Latvian rights, Jānis Šteinhauers. It is significant that "Spirits & Wine" also started its business in Andrejosta. On the other hand, Steinhauer is connected with Valmiermuiž, the cradle of the Brethren congregation in Vidzeme, because he led the congregation in Riga. Significantly, the enterprising Latvian left his mark even in America, buying land for the mission of the brothers of faith.
This original lager was created in the Valmiermuiža beer workshop. Clear amber color, ivory foam. A bold blend of aromatic German and exotic American hops for both brewing and cold hopping. A bouquet of herbs and a light malt caramel present themselves in the aroma, in which after a moment citrus fruits and noble honeyed meadow notes highlighted by cold honey become interwoven. The lichen bitterness of the easy-drinking beer is the first thing that hits the tongue from the taste bouquet. It is then complemented by notes of caramel, red berries, citrus and meadow flowers with a hint of resin and fresh hay. Aftertaste – pleasant, multi-layered bitterness.

Unhurriedly brewed for special occasions, in Latvia beer has been the Master Brewer’s pride and joy since days of yore. As a measure of our respect for venerable traditions, at Valmiermuiža we brew unpasteurised beer patiently and nurture a culture of enjoying beer, so that beer enjoys a place of honour on the festive table just as it did in olden days.
